Tonia's love of the ocean, it's moods and colours, and people interacting with nature feature in most of her artworks. The panoramic and spectacular views of the wild and windswept, most southern coastline of Victoria, Australia displays nature at its best. This part of the coastline, near Port Campbell, particularly influenced Tonia with its colossal, imposing cliffs and steep steps down to the beach, The Gibson Steps. Tonia wanted to capture the size and power of the landscape in contrast to the tiny, almost insignificant, people shown below on the beach. Tonia's fictitious character, Wendy (with the Where's Wendy catch cry) has been included in the scene in her red bikini on the Gibson steps.
Acrylic paint has been applied with brush and palette knife and finished with two coats of matt varnish. The painting is framed in a quality white timber, floating frame, has a wire across the back and is ready to hang.
